Eclipse 2024

  • Marion Municipal Airport 5904 South Western Ave Marion, In 46953 USA (map)

The Marion Municipal Airport and Air Marion will be open on April 8th during the Eclipse. At this time we are not requiring a reservation for aircraft flying in. But we do know that it will be a busy flying day and we are grounding our rental planes from 1pm on the 8th until 8am on the 9th.

The Grant Regional Career Center Aviation Academy will be releasing a balloon to view the Eclipse. The launch will be around 2pm. The balloon will rise to about 80,000ft with cameras, GPS and other equipment on board then return back down with a parachute. Hopefully they are able to find it after landing and we can see the video of what the Eclipse looked like from that altitude.

Check your NOTAMs. There will be planes and balloons all over the airspace before, during and after the Eclipse. Be careful!!
